compensation for the old skins on the new event track for previous owners#766

i’m going off of ryn’s statement. the event track should compensate for the skins you already own before it. it’s kind of counterproductive on buying bundles if the skins may be added to future event tracks and you get nothing on their level. their buck(as in not coins) value should be given as that’s prob what happens if you get them on the event track and buy the bundle afterwards https://www.twitch.tv/rynnyryn/clip/BraveAgreeableGoblinM4xHeh-p8NPZMYWmlC82KfU

Imo refunding coins would be a good middle ground so that some players aren’t getting $20 just in refund bucks lol

totally against the coins idea cuz, again: people that do track first then buy bundle later will get bucks

It’d be consistant with how they handle it in similar circumstances, giving the buck value that it.

Nah, you should just get 1/3 of coin value at most, you spent the money to get a cool skin in advance and you get a small exchange, you guys can’t spend your life feeling like you are owed because you were first at getting something, living like everything has to be an optimal investment is such a sad mentality, you can just enjoy the game

Made an account just to vote towards this.

Bundles do adjust value for previously owned items, and give bucks to compensate.
People who decide to support the game by buying costumes should not be discouraged because an event track (current or future) might contain it, and they would end up with less things overall for having paid money.

Throwing my support toward this. I’ve bought only a couple skin bundles and, for the skin I wanted from those particular bundles, I like them so much that I wouldn’t be too unhappy not getting compensated for them becoming free 6+ months from now, but I think the looming prospect of paid skins becoming free without compensation has consequences for the future. If I liked a skin moderately but was on the fence about spending my cash or Aether Bucks on the skin, the fact that I could get the skin for free in the future and ultimately waste my money would dissuade me from paying for that skin now. Purchases do tend to devalue over time in games like this—anybody who bought a 2024 or 2025 bundle at full price could have gotten it for half by waiting until the April 2026 sale—but I think having no compensation at all when it becomes free is extreme.

I don’t understand the argument that we should be given less value for previously supporting the devs? If someone gets the skin from this they can buy the bundle to get bucks (plus they can get the extra bucks from a creator code), but since I bought the skin (tbh a skin I have never even used in Clairen’s case) to support the devs when I had money and I get to this level I get nothing? I feel like I should be compensated all 1000 bucks for this. Before getting to this level in the pass I was assuming this would happen because it’s consistent to how bundles work, but I got nothing and I’m super bummed I can’t get the new Absa skin I love that I want while I’m not able to put more money into the game.

the takeaway i suggest for everyone that does feel bummed like me if they do keep things as they are is to not buy new bundles until the skins are added to event tracks and then buy the bundles which in turn would save us money for at least one year and we’d get more value out of it then onwards

Did you guys realize you now gain twice as much coins per level as previously?

HopefulAutoimmunity187 Yes, everyone’s coin rate through events being doubled is excellent! However that’s not what we’re discussing, to outline what we mean, bascically:

If you buy a bundled item separately, you will be refunded in Aether Bucks. I’m attaching screenshots to illustrate, in the first screenshot you’ll see that practically all 3-costume bundles normally give 250 aether bucks.

However, now that I’ve earned pool party clairen from the event track, see the second screenshot. The costume I already have is gone from the bundle, and the bundle now gives 1,250 Aether Bucks instead. This is because pool party clairen is valued at 1,000. Thus, the bundle’s value is intended to remain equal regardless of whether or when the bundle is purchased.

Knowing this, our issue is that: If I were to have instead bought the pool party bundle first, before the event track, I will lose 2,000 Aether Bucks worth of value, 1,000 per costume.

It stands to reason that event tracks should dynamically update too, replacing spots that have owned costumes with some currency, any currency would be better than 0, the best case being an equal value of bucks, to reflect the way bundles dynamically update.

They could give be 67 million coins on the overlevel and it wouldn’t match 2k bucks lost on the skin levels:

  1. Coins are limited by the coin shop items
  2. Coins are limited limited by the coin shop rotation
  3. You can literally buy anything at any time with 2k bucks

Again, defining value based on the order you do things set a precedent on how to better spend your money which I’m gonna take. Buying bundles as soon as they are released is not advisable anymore “oh but you’re supporting the devs” yet that support comes with my money being devalued in comparison to someone who just waits for the skins to be released on an event track and then buy the bundle. This is literally the reverse fomo

This has been responded to on stream!
Paraphrasing to summarise: This is an exception, and is not going to become a regular occurance. One time thing! We were assuming this would happen all the time going forward and so were unknowingly way overblowing it, whoops

The reason it happened is because they were under huge time crunch to get this event out the door given the team downsizing and other factors such as coming after the slumber event and working on huge things coming up for the game, so they weren’t able to provide 3 skins and implement a compensation feature into the backend at the same time in time. The compromise was that these two skins would be an exception. Thankfully this means this won’t happen to other skins!

Other bundles are safe from being devalued, thankfully! It seems bundle items wont be considered for event tracks in the future. It’s super nice to know that they are aware!

Knowing this is an exception thankfully quells all my worries on this issue, a knowing one-time compromise is completely different from a silent issue. Very thankful for the team’s communication and response, and I hope my overexplanation of the issue didn’t seem like bashing or meanness. I was moreso worried that this issue was being ignored/unknown and it seemed important for it to be conveyed and be addressed, to keep bundles a desirable way for players to continue supporting the devs and creators. All this to say thank you to the team for the communication! And apologies if any of us seemed harsh in the time that we did not know the explanation.
