The addition of 10 frames of aerial endlag has left Down Air in an awkward place. I find it has reduced the amount of Dair spam somewhat, but not as much as I think you’d want from such a big lag increase. It has also shrunk some fun use cases, like using it while falling down toward stage as a combo starter and comboing the sweetspot spike into itself offstage (which was already totally escapable for opponents and unsafe for Fleet).
I think Down Air could use a different fix. My preferred idea is a per-airtime limit that would apply to just the late lingering projectile, not the initial sweetspot. This would force Fleet to use Dair with more discretion further offstage where it can’t be teched, but it wouldn’t constrain her followups as long as she doesn’t intend on using another Dair projectile.
Whether or not this would make sense, Dair still just doesn’t feel very nice to use, and I’ve played pretty regularly since it was changed. I would be in favor of a partial or complete reversion of the endlag change.

What if the Dair arrow didn’t spike? Like Knockt from AFQM?
