This move seems to not be grabbing the “extended shield hitbox” and whiffing in strange moments. Enemies shrinking their hitbox inside of shield + can’t grab the shield = move is HARDER to hit against shielding opponents?
That’s my theory but it’s a weird situation, hopefully this move can be looked at.
Galvan’s DownB already got a special rule change so now it can grab opponents that are laying down (for consistency). This move could benefit from another consistency buff: being allowed to grab shields.
Here’s some step-by-step screenshots too:
Here is an insane clip of galvan’s DownB going through slades shield and whiffing, it looks wild:

@PizzaAngelo sent me the replay, and to my surprise, the first clip actually just barely whiffed. If the Loxodont held shield for 1 more frame, he would have been grabbed. I have no explanation for the Slade clip though, that one looks really weird. It sounds and looks like a power shield, but I cannot recreate it in testing. If anyone has a replay where that happens, I’d love to see it (the actual replay file, not just a video of it; I want to be able to watch it in frame advance so I can see if something weird is happening with the hitboxes/hurtboxes, and it would also help with recreating it).
