You can counter clairens up b with a quick aerial before the last hit from up B finishes and does not seem to be intended. It does not seem to be the intention of the nerf from the patch notes. Also, #378 thread also has something similar. The nerf to the hitstun multiplier has many unintended effects. I don’t even understand why this up b has been the focus of many nerfs in the first place

Other examples, please confirm that this is not intended otherwise this is a huge nerf to her recovery

The other clairen was too low but the problem is also shown here. You can grab ledge between hits making it unsafe to hit someone near ledge with upb1, even if you do upb2 immediately

The next hotfix will revert the hitstun modifier of the final hit of Uspecial’s first swing to 0.75x (the first four hits will remain 0.5x).

Whats the goal with the move and what situations are you trying to prevent with these changes? I understand DI behind on the first hit sending opponent flying behind Clairen (the clip vs that ranno) but why are the late hits of up-b knocking down at 0 and having a .75 hitstun mult? It doesnt seem fun for the opponent and most Clairens don’t like it either

@Menace13
I also agree with the the commenter above. Is this up b that annoying that warrants more nerfs? Since I have your attention on Clairen’s up b, I had previously posted about some annoying interactions since the clairen up-b change a while ago that was supposed to make it more consistent, but there are many scenarios that the enemy just fall off of from her up B and then you get countered. The clip below was from Jan 29th. Maybe the interaction similar to Olympia’s up b is too much, but is there a reason it is not similar to it? Why can enemies just randomly fall off ? It’s so hard to predict how its going to hit. If the opponent randomly falls off and doesnt get hit with everything, it’s so easy to get punished for no reason, specially if the hitstun is shorter.

@Menace13
whats with the clairen privilige? many chars have very unsafe on hit up specials at lower percents, that allow your opponent to actually get their own hit in after being hit by the up B. Why is it suddenly an issue if clairen does have this?
@TemptingActor769 you shouldn’t get rewarded for getting hit by clairens up B in the air.

@FunctionalIntervenor200
You realize that this has already been the case for many other chars up B at low percent (all example videos show opponents below 50%)?
Try hitting someone with fleets up B at low percent while in the air. you will eat a full combo. Same can happen with slades up B, or maypul up B etc etc etc.
up Bs are not safe on hit at low percent in this game. But once it happens to the carried clairen mains there is an outcry and emmergency fix. The clairen privilige as unreal at this point…

Clairen up b is not functioning as before due to an oversight
TemptingActor769: ButWhY ClAiRen HAS PRIVIleGe?!
God you sound dumb, Clairen is literally nerfed EVERY single patch and you talk about Clairen privilege? No other up b is similar to this. Imagine if you get hit by Olympia up B and you just manage to slip out of it before the last hit. The move is not working as intended. This is the same thing.
Stop being a clairen hater and just improve your ass at this game. Your examples with maypul up b doesnt even make sense, its a one hit move. If clairen cant finish her move, it just doesnt make sense, similar to slade up b, you cant hit him while ur getting hit mid spin. god you’re so stupid

Thank you @MonumentalWorld429 but let’s be real Zoolz is a lost cause and will spin it into “oH yOuR mAD CuZ yOuR cLaIrEN mAiN nnnnghhhh” projecting his malding onto everyone instead of admitting he’s a salt mine.

@TemptingActor769 Like bro you and few others in here are fucking harrassing the developers because they make changes that you don’t like. Get a damn life and adapt. It’s their game. You don’t like that fact? Don’t play and/or make your own smh
@TemptingActor769 its getting changed back so stay mad

@MonumentalWorld429
funnily enough, your example with Oly can actually happen. And yes, i can hit slade mid spin if i get hit at low percent by the aerial version of the up B. you guys are so carried you don’t even realize it anymore xD

“up Bs are not safe on hit at low percent in this game. But once it happens to the carried clairen mains there is an outcry and emmergency fix. The clairen privilige as unreal at this point…”
Ah yes, trying to recover and hitting an opponent at 90% with my up b, and he grabs the ledge before the last hit of my up b happens. Totally normal according to your logic. God I wish silver ranked ppl were not allowed to post here

I’m going to lock this thread because there isn’t any discussion left to be had; please be respectful to others on the Nolt board in the future. The initial change to Clairen Uspecial hitstun modifier in Patch 1.6.1 was intended to prevent clips such as the attached one where the tip of the multihits leaves the opponent in a horrible position; it was never intended to allow the opponent to consistently counterattack Clairen or grab the ledge before the second part of Uspecial. The change in the next hotfix only reverts it for hit 5 (the final hit of the first swing of Uspecial) because that hit already has lower knockback and can’t leave the opponent in as bad a situation as hits 1-4 could.
For a more detailed explanation, hits 1-4 have 13 base knockback while hit 5 has only 8 base knockback, and knockback is directly correlated with hitstun (assuming the same hitstun modifier). On the live build, this means that hits 1-4 have 26 frames of hitstun while hit 5 has only 16 frames of hitstun. Reverting the hitstun multiplier on specifically hit 5 (from 0.5x back up to 0.75x) brings it back up to 24 frames of hitstun, which is still less hitstun than hits 1-4, but enough that the opponent cannot attack Clairen before the second swing of Uspecial is active.
