Ranked changes are intended?#231

P

I’ve had the displeasure and talking with other players experiencing the same thing, that instead of facing +-1 rank (f.e. as a diamond facing plat diamond and master players) now the ranked system seems kind of broken, idk if this is intended to make higher ranked players have a wider player pool since the queue could be a bit too long sometimes but overall just worsens the experience for both players, higher ranked players have more one sided matches which isn’t ideal for improving and get less points, lower ranked players face opponents way outside of their skill level and get stomped which isn’t fun, adding ss of something that happened today between two of my friends 3 ranks apart finding each other in ranked

This has been an issue for a while. I don’t like the gamble aspect in the first place, but ever since I got placed with people over 200 points above my level 3 TIMES IN A ROW, I stopped playing ranked completely.

Considering how early in the season it is a lot of people’s ranks would not be reflective of their actual level. I’m usually in platinum but I was having a bad day when I did my placement, I lost most of the games narrowly and it put me in bronze. Thankfully it didn’t seem to mind matching me against people ~500 ranks above me and I’ve climbed back up to gold. If it was only matching me against people next to my rank I would’ve had to slog through long queues and bad players before I had a chance to fight people closer to my actual level. So, I hope it stays this way until people’s ranks start to level out.

i think it is fine to widen the search radius for people who are on a win streak, they can get people way above their rank to climb faster. But if you are matched against people 200+ above you several times in a row and loose everytime, its kinda unfair and kills all the fun. Sure you only loose a few points, but if you have an actual life and only got 1h to play at night, you don’t want to constantly loose because the game gives you people way above you constantly, despite you being in the rank that is supposed to have the most players, like OP. especially when the matchmaking does not even take 20 seconds.

This is not intended, and we’re investigating the cause.

Ahh homie, I’ve been in upper gold since a little after launch and I’ve had that gap maybe once every 20-30 sets.

It’s not super common, but it’s common enough for me to see this post and think, “Wait. That wasn’t supposed to happen?”
