Improve Workshop Character Selection#1221

Currently, the workshop character selection feels secondary to the main cast on the Workshop character selection screen. As people download more Workshop characters, the single list will make it hard to find the character you want.

I suggest a quick fix first, adding a search bar to the top of the character list, this will allow people that have a lot of Workshop characters to still find who they want easily. I feel this is a reasonable thing to add because I doubt Workshop will be on anything other than PC and pretty muche every PC has a keyboard. If the main PC keyboard cannot be used to search due to something with the player ports, then I think allowing the individual player to type a search using the name entry keyboard would work fine. I don’t think people will have to type more than a few characters to find who they are looking for.

A favorites feature will also go a long way to help people keep the most played characters easily seen without sacrificing which ones they want to download.

For a more long term fix I think the main cast selection should be put in a more secondary position, maybe in a popout menu. I think the central focus should be a grid of Workshop characters that can be easily searched, and using the portraits for their icons because already in the Workshop if you have multiple versions of the same character using the name and stock icon alone makes it hard to tell which version you are selecting.
