Fox, Marth, and Sheik weren’t known for being easy.

One of these is not like the other hehe. I do think shine on down b would’ve helped in this regard, but I think the fact that wavedash is easy will always make them much easier than their melee counterparts.

The problems the devs did not realize, or maybe do not realize yet, still: just because a char worked well in engine A does not mean he does in engine B. Clairen is the prime example here. She worked so well in Rivals 1 but all the system mechanics that changed and/or are new in Rivals 2 play so much into her cards that she becomes completely busted and unfun to play against. Zetter is the same.
Ranno on the other hand is just badly designed imho. Giving such a fast char the weakness, that he is not so good at approaching/playing agressively is not a real weakness in this game with the super passive meta and additionally its just horrible design in general. Also given is combo game he needs to do WAY less damage. Same with zetter btw.
I am happy that pro level play seems to be balanced good enough, that almost any character is represented but if you want your game to be a commercial success you need to look a bit lower in the ELO range to make your chars work. they completely negelcted that and it shows in the player numbers and especially in player retention. I have several friends who are generally are very interested in trad fighters and platform fighters alike. But a never saw so many people bounce of so fast form a game like rivals 2. Same happened with my local. The game is just not well designed and balanced for “Normal” people atm.

I thought Sheik was known for being an easy and accessible top tier.
What? Sheik and Marth are notorious for being brain dead at different levels of play. Fox’s reputation is only barely better because he can be a technically demanding character in a game with no input buffering, but the average player doesn’t need to be “technical” to beat you with a character who has everything but the kitchen sink.
This post just comes across as whining.
